Generating statements with the Tin Can API

Learning activities lead to outcomes. These outcomes are translated as Tin Can statements which are sent to and stored in a Learning Record Store. If you have an activity or piece of learning content that you want to track and report on in an LRS, we can help you to find the right statements to make and ways to work with your data. Non-traditional and traditional environments alike have a ton of possibilities for new ways to track activities and report data. This is something we are happy to help you do.

Tin Can Driver

Making e-learning content conform to the standards isn’t an easy thing to do, but it’s what we do. We’re really good at it. A large portion of e-learning content that’s out there today is powered by our products — we’ve been doing it for over a decade.

Tin Can Driver makes it easy for your e-learning content to generate Tin Can statements and send them to an LRS. We’ve taken all of our past experience with e-learning standards and used it in Tin Can Driver. What does this mean to you as an activity/content creator?

  • You can use your activities/content to generate Tin Can statements that get stored in a Learning Record Store (this can be general learning content, or content that’s already been SCORM-ified.)
  • Your content can live outside of an LMS and report Tin Can statements to a Learning Record Store (this opens up a LOT of new possibilities for your content!)

Want to try out Tin Can Driver? Well, we have a version of Tin Can Driver that’s free for noncommercial use.

If you want to start letting your content/activities generate Tin Can statements, we have some developer resources that will help you. Get free code samples and other resources in our developers’ section.
